The Band

Eric and Molly Sappington first formed the duo Mercury 27 years ago after moving from the Midwest to the Oregon Coast. Between 1999 and 2008, they released an EP and two full-length records.

Eric continued songwriting and performing around the Northwest, while Molly focused on raising their two sons.

Flash forward to September 2022, when Ebon Bergeron approached Eric and asked if he’d want to add some guitar tracks to his drums. The result was a fast-moving expression of emotion and creativity. Both Eric and Ebon had been waiting for this moment, and it happened at just the right time.

Enter Steve Doss, a recent transplant from California. Steve joined on standup bass, then Molly returned with backing vocals and percussion. MERCURY COAST was formed.

We have now built a solid local following and plan to release our first of 2 singles, Spring 2024. We look forward to making this world a better place through art and music. This is the time to feel the shine.

  • Steve

While growing up as a child and listening to his father play western swing music, he was inspired to play upright bass. A bassist in the gold country of California for over twenty years, Steve has played in numerous ensembles, covering a wide range of genres from honky-tonk, latin dance, Americana, to the blues. He has played in large festival venues and small roadside brewhouses. He now enjoys playing locally in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Ebon

Ebon is a multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, and producer. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, he has been a lifelong musician, playing in a multitude of projects over the years. You can find some of his guitar work and horn arrangement on Jarrod Lawson's self-titled debut album, which went number one on the UK soul charts in 2014. You can also find him on the EP titled Scatterbrain (2019), which is co-written and produced by which he goes by the pseudonym MisterE.
